Latest Updates from Our Project:

February 8 Update
10 days ago – Thu, Feb 08, 2018 at 11:23:16 PM

Hi all! Firstly, from this point onward we are going to make our regular updates public. Previously they were visible to Kickstarter backers only, but we thought the public updates would be more convenient for Backerkit pre-orderers, as well. Our updates are about every two weeks, even if we don't have much new to update.

To recap our current estimates: We don't have an updated ETA yet because we want the next date we provide to encompass a timeframe for the print version. We are very close to finishing the print-and-play version, and have been working through the last blockers to release that to everyone.

Requirements for release Print-and-Play:

  • Editing of Variants: complete. All variants are edited, and we even got in a few more improvements to the cards and the core text.
  • Card Layout: complete. This covers the Theme, Companion and Reference cards.
  • Printable Layout: in progress. (This means laying out the cards above in a convenient format for print-and-play.)
  • Rules Layout: in progress. Continuing to iterate on this.

Requirements for going to print:

  • New Box Art: in progress. We approved some great initial sketches and color schemes.
  • Box Design: on hold, pending the new Box Art.

In the last month, we continued working through blockers. One thing that slowed us that down is that we (Dev & Laura) seem to have spent January taking turns being sick. Hopefully that will stop!

We are working to get the print-and-play out to all our backers as soon as possible.

This weekend, Sweet Potato Press will be guests at Big Bad Con in Walnut Creek, CA! Come by if you're in the area. We will be running some sessions of Companions' Tale (hopefully the 8-player Diaspora variant!) and Love Commander.

Pre-Orders are open to the public!

The Kickstarter has ended! But this tale is not over...
11 months ago – Wed, Mar 22, 2017 at 05:27:06 PM

With 944 backers (one in the last 60 seconds!), the Companions’ Tale Kickstarter has come to a close. All our stretch goals have been unlocked, and we are ready to finish this game and get it in our players’ hands.

We are so grateful to our backers who have had faith in our project and helped it come to fruition. Your support has given us a real creative boost and we will take that with us in the months to come.

Here’s what’s next for us:

If you’re an upper-tier backer, we’ll be in touch soon! We want to get started quickly about creating custom content and integrating it into the game.

Beyond that, we’re continuing with our production plan. We’ll set up Backerkit shortly to handle post-Kickstarter upgrades and multiple orders.

We’ll continue to post updates here and share our progress. We also encourage you to subscribe to our mailing list to hear about other Sweet Potato Projects!

We’ll talk to you all soon!

Final Hours… (And Backerkit)

Thank you all for joining us. It looks like our final stretch goal is in reach, and Creation Myth will be part of the game! This has been an amazing journey.

I wanted to mention that we’ve partnered with Backerkit to handle post-Kickstarter logistics and multiple orders, which many of you have expressed interest in! We’re finalizing those details, so expect more on that soon.
